UDHAMPUR, Nov 29: The Water Works (PHE) Employees Association has regretted that no political party has included the issue pertaining to regularization of over 70,000 daily rated workers in their agenda of election manifesto.
In this connection several meeting of the association were held at Garhi Rehmbal, Tikri, Jib and Thathi under the chairmanship of Som Nath, president and senior vice president of Jammu provincial body of the association. Som Nath appealed all the employees of the State to be ready for protest for their long pending demands in case the same were not settled at an earliest.
Their demands pertained to immediate release of pending wages of 22 to 24 months of CP workers; Putting an end to shortage of staff to man the water supply schemes to ease the burden of already over-burdened workers; Change of designation as per nature of job being performed by the workers; Implementation of Minimum Wages Act by enhancing the daily wage rate on a uniform pattern to Rs 350. Framing of a clear cut policy in PHE Department viz Regular and Daily Wagers; and Immediate release of 17% DA in favour of State Government employees.
Others who spoke in these meetings included Rattan Singh, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Makhan Chand, Krishan Chand, Shiv Lal, Om Parkash, Parth Singh, Omkar Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Raj Kumar, Shamsher Singh etc.
