PHE employees organise meet, discuss demands

UDHAMPUR, Oct 8: PHE Employees Association held its meeting at Kambal Danga under the chairmanship of senior vice president Rattan Singh wherein employees from Hartyan, Dhanu, Muttal, Jasar Kot, Jib Thathi etc participated.
While addressing Rattan Singh criticised the attitude of the State Government and the concerned Minister for compelling the workers to go for agitation, despite performing double shift duties in a day and are still without pay and also awaiting their regularization since long.
Rattan Singh appealed the Chief Minister to intervene and get the matter solved. He said when the Government can spend huge sums on construction of new water supply schemes, why it was not releasing the wages of the workers.
Other demands of the association as projected in the meeting pertained to release of wages for 22 to 26 months, regularization of different categories of workers who have put in more than five years regular services, Implementation of Minimum Wages Act with enhancement in their daily wage rate to Rs 400, change in designation as per the nature of job being performed by them with particular reference to those who have been engaged in lieu of land donated to the department and their designations being changed frequently and at the same time being paid regularly.
Others who addressed the meeting included Makhan Chand, Shanker Dass, Karan Singh, Sham Lal, Bhagwan Dass, Om Raj etc.
