JAMMU, Oct 25: A number of protest demonstrations were held at different tehsil and district headquarters in protest against anti-employees policies of the State Government.
The protests were held on the directions of State INTUC president Shiv Kumar Sharma, who is also provincial president of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association at Poonch, Nowshera and Kathua.
In Nowshera the demonstration was held under the chairmanship of Sham Lal while in Kathua the protest was led by Kuldeep Kumar. In one voice the association leaders criticized and condemned the anti-employees policies of the State Government.
Speaking on the occasion the speakers expressed their grave concern over the callous and indifferent attitude of Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather towards the State employees vis-à-vis their genuine demands and grievances. They stated that instead of following  the instructions laid down in the SRO 94, Rather has stabbed the employees on their back by adopting a new formula of regularization which entitles employees to be regularized after a lapse of 10 years. The speakers said the new formula was not acceptable to the trade union.
They said by following such a policy, the daily wagers, ITI trained diploma holders and CP workers who have put in over seven years of services have totally been ignored. The leaders of the association were however appreciative of the role played by PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma in getting redressed the grievances of the employees while on the other hand, Finance Minister A R Rather always created hurdles by not releasing the due DA installments and non-payment of 6th Pay Commission arrears, which will be the main cause of the downfall of the Coalition Government, said the association leaders.
