PHE Employees & Workers Association highlights demands

JAMMU, Mar 2: Jal Shakti (PHE) Employees and Workers Association held a meeting of the Executive body, here today, under the chairmanship of Som Nath, district president of the Association and vice-president of JKNPP trade Union.
In the meeting, the Association highlighted long pending issues and demands of the workers, which include regularization of CPI/ITI/Land case workers, release of pending wages, implementation of Minimum Wages Act on the PHE workers, immediate issuance of appointment of orders in SRO-43 cases, holding DPC and wages to unpaid workers.
Addressing the meeting, Som Nath strongly criticized the Jal Shakti/PHE Department for not considering the long pending demands of the workers, who are back bone of the department but not being regularly paid their wages.
He said that Lt Governor Manoj Sinha had assured to positively consider their demands immediately after DDC elections but there was no progress on the same for the last more than two months.
Som Nath also alleged discrimination in distribution of wages of workers in different districts and appealed the Lt Governor to initiate action against those officers delaying disbursement of wages. He appealed to leaders of United Front Jammu to unite for fighting the cause of workers and launch a massive agitation if the Government does not concede their long pending and genuine demands.
Others, who spoke on the occasion, included Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kessar, Baldev Raj, Karan Singh, Barth Singh, Prem Nath, Shamboo Dutt, Ganesh Chand, Amit Dubey, Janat Ali and Rattan Chand.
