PHE ITI daily wagers demand regularization

JAMMU, Apr 12: J&K PHE ITI/Non-ITI Daily Rated Workers Union has demanded regularisation of all type of temporary workers and framing of a policy for the same.
Addressing a press conference here today, Chairman of the Daily Rated Workers United Front Mohd Gafoor Dar and provincial president of Union Tanveer Hussain said that a large number of ITI and Non-ITI youth were engaged on need basis in the PHE Department in last several years but they and struggling for their regularisation but now a confusion is being created that all those workers engaged after 1994 will be thrown out. The Government has no definite policy for their regularization. Insecurity was prevailing among these daily rated/ casual, need basis, consolidated rate workers about their fate.
Mr Dar said that in this connection they met with the Minister for PHE, I&FC and discussed the issue with him concerning an order No. 9 GAD, dated 26-3-13 issued recently. He said that the PHE Minister has assured the delegation that no workers of his department will be ousted. The Minister has assured that those engaged by Government in PHE, I&FC, PDD, R&B and Agriculture Department have not been affected with this order as Government has exempted these four departments.
The Front leader appealed the daily rated workers of the department not to be misled by some professional leaders as there was no threat to their future and only some opportunist leaders were creating confusion. He however, appealed the Government to frame a definite and clear policy for the regularization of these workers. Mr Dar further demanded that the new rate of Rs 225 per day for the skilled and semi-skilled ( Rs 175) workers be implemented in the department.
Vice president Deepak Gupta and Subash Chander general secretary also spoke on the occasion.
