JAMMU, Sept 10: Permanent employees of the PHE/ Jal Shakti Department today cautioned the Government to go on strike on Sept 23, if higher authorities failed to address their demands already projected several times.
Talking to media-persons here today, senior members of PHE Employees United Front- Munish Sharma, Rajesh Jamwal, Baldader Raj Vaid, Davinder Singh and others said that on June 18 one day `Kam Chhor Hartal’ was observed by the United Front projecting old pending demands of the employees. In view of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and assurance by the higher authorities, the permanent employees of the United Front rendered full cooperation to the Government and performed duty even on behalf of the daily wage employees presently on strike.
But it is unfortunate that the UT Administration failed to address the pending issues of the permanent employees and was just buying time. They regretted that the UT Administration was forcing them also to adopt agitational path. Even those demands and issues which were under the competency of Chief Engineer were not addressed. They gave ultimatum to the UT administration up to Sept 22, failing which, the permanent employees will go on strike on Sept 23, 2022, they cautioned.
The United Front is demanding conducting of DPC meeting at all levels in the PHE Department so that stagnation is removed, modification in SRO 380, stoppage of recoveries from the employees being made in the name of SRO 149 of 1973 and SRO 59, clearance of all the pending SRO-43 cases. They said permanent employees are working for more than 8 hours due to daily wagers strike, either they should be compensated or nobody will perform duty beyond 8 hours, moreover, the issue of regularization of daily rated workers be solved at the earliest.
It was further demanded that all the service matters of the permanent employees such as salary, wages, functional promotion and INSITU promotion, drawl of GP Fund, leave salary, gratuity etc be settled in the PHE Department at the level of Executive Engineer and the staff deputed to Jammu Municipal Corporation be treated on deputation only.
