UDHAMPUR, Dec 17: The unpaid workers of PHE department have deferred their ongoing strike after receiving assurance from the Lt Governor, Girish Chander Murmu.
A meeting of the Water Works PHE Employees Association and unpaid PHE workers drawn from Ramnagar, Majalta, Kulwanta, Chowki, Majouri, Khoon, Mansar, Chenani, Tikri, Jib Thathi, Udhampur city was held at PHE complex here today under the leadership of Som Nath, senior vice president, PHE Employees Association, Jammu province.
Addresing the gathering, Som Nath thanked the Lt Governor, G C Murmu and Commissioner/ Secretary PHE, I&FC Department , Ajit Kumar Sahu for considering the genuine demands of the PHE workers, who are on strike since November 14, 2019. He said the workers have deferred their strike programme on the assurance of Lt Governor.
He recalled that a delegation of the Association/ workers led by Ex-MLA, Ramnagar, R S Pathania met the Lt Governor the other day and projected long pending demands of the workers. They also discussed the issue with the Commisioner/ Secretary. They both have assured to solve their genuine issues shortly. Senior leaders of the Association have appealed to the Lt Governor, Advisor and Commissioner/ Secy PHE , to resolve the issue as early as possible.
The main issues projected included, release of pending wages, regularization of workers, conduct of DPC of all cadre, implement Minimum Wages Act, remove shortage of staff, change the designation of workers as per nature of job.
Som Nath strongly demanded to release the pending 55 months wages of the workers and implement regularization policy.
Senior members, Vijay Kumar, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Krishan Chand, Balbir Singh, Joginder Kumar, Suram Chand, Parath Singh and Prem Nath also spoke on the occasion.
