PHE workers denied wages, masks, vaccination: Som Nath

UDHAMPUR, June 2: Senior NPP Trade Union leader and president, Jal Shakti /PHE Employees and Workers Association, Udhampur, Som Nath has alleged that PHE workers and employees have been deprived of their wages, masks, sanitizers and vaccination on priority as front line Covid workers.
He alleged that after being denied their wages for the last over 55 long months, hundreds of PHE workers and their families have been left to face starvation by the J&K UT Administration.
Addressing a meeting of the PHE workers/ daily wagers at Udhampur PHE complex today, he alleged that higher authorities in the PHE are ignoring the burning issues of the employees and workers. He said PHE staff is acting as front line Covid worker but they are being deprived of priority vaccination, sanitizers, masks, gloves etc while performing their duties by the authorities. They are not provided with took kits and other much need facilities at water/pumping stations/ tube wells. He said many recently retired employees are suffering as their GPF cases are pending clearance.
Som Nath further alleged that despite representations to senior officers, bureaucrats and the Advisors, the authorities failed to clear the wages of the workers, who are performing their duties at their respective water stations. They are facing worst kind of exploitation at the hands of the Government. These helpless workers are unable to feed their families and continue the studies of their children. Some children have dropped out as their parents failed to pay school fees. The authorities must take cognizance of the matter and clear the wages of the workers in phased manner, he added.
He demanded regularization of CP/ ITI and Land case workers of PHE, remove shortage of staff at water stations and other PHE offices, clear pending SRO-43 cases, conduct DPC at Divisional and Provincial level and change the designation of the employees as per their nature of work.
The Trade Union leader urged upon the LG, Manoj Sinha to address the pending issues of the PHE workers.
Senior Trade Union leaders – Vijay Kumar, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Amit Dubey, Baldev Raj, Prabhu Dayal, Krishan Chand, Om Parkash and others were also present in the meeting.
