JAMMU, Apr 9: The Water Works PHE Employees Association held a protest rally at Chenani under the leadership of Som Nath, Senior Vice President PHE Employees Association Jammu Province.
A large number of employees and workers drawn from Latti Dhuna, Sudhmahadev, Mantalai, Bashat, Mada, Ossue and other far flung areas of Tehsil Chenani participated in the protest rally.
While speaking, Som Nath appealed to the higher authorities in the PHE Department to release the pending wages and make provision for disbursal of wages on monthly basis, creation of posts for regularization of daily wagers, etc.
He also demanded speedy regularization of the casual workers, enquiry into non payment of wages to imprest workers, engagement of workers to over come shortage, change of designation of workers, DPC should be conducted on divisional and provincial levels.
Som Nath appealed to the employees and workers to remain united under the banner of PHE Employees United Front and extend support to the organized strike of PHE employees and workers for ‘Pani Bandh Call’ of atleast 72 hours if agreement made on March 27 this year is not fulfilled in a time frame.
He appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik to redress the issues of these workers in the shortest possible time.
Among others who spoke were Vijay Kumar, Suraj Prakash, Jagdish Magotra, Prabu Lal, Amit Dubey, Darbara Singh, Govind Ram, Barkat Ali, Mohammad Sharief, Prem Nath, Javaid, Ganesh Chand and Sanjay.
