PHE workers project demands

KATHUA, Apr 19: The PHE workers projected their demands during one day convention held at Mandli in Billawar sub division of district Kathua today.
The day long convention was held under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, Division Kathua. Shiv Kumar Sharma, State president of  Indian National Trade Union Congress  who is also the provincial president of  this association was the chief guest on the occasion.
A large number of PHE workers from from various PHE Divisions/ Sub Divisions  including Basohli, Billawar,  Bani, Hiranagar and Kathua participated  in the convention. Kuldeep Raj,  president Kathua unit of the Association projected the issues of the workers of the area  and stressed upon the Government to release pending wages of the workers and frame definite policy to regularise  all the temporary/ daily rated  workers.  He said that despite protest /strike of the workers,  their issues remained unresolved.
INTUC president Shiv Kumar Sharma strongly condemned the State Government for ignoring the burning issues of the PHE employees / workers.  He demanded enhancement of wages of daily rated workers from  Rs 150 to Rs 300 per day, regularization of all the temporary workers who have  completed five years in service, holding of DPC meet twice a year, enhancement of  Medical Allowance of  employees and pensioners  from  Rs 300 to Rs 2000 per month, release of DA installments in cash, release of pending wages of the workers and  creation of technical posts from top to bottom of all cadre.
Later, Kuldeep Raj was unanimously re-elected as  district president of the Association of Kathua unit. Harbans  Lal was nominated as chairman and Yash Pal as general secretary.  Several other office bearers for Kathua unit were also announced.
