PHE workers’ strike enters 16th day

JAMMU, Feb 19: The ongoing chain hunger strike of PHE Workers Welfare Association enter 16th day today.
The senior leader Rattan Doshi criticized administration for anti-labour, anti-employees policies and rigid attitude adopted by the department towards their demands. The State Government has adopted criminal silence over the wager issue which is in fact a burning problem of the society, he added.
Doshi said that employees are forced to take direct action, for which State Government will be responsible.
The protesters are demanding regularization, clearance of 22 months backlog wages, disbursement of wages before 5th of every month. Earlier, they gathered at PHE Complex, BC Road raised slogans in support of their demands.
Those who sat on hunger strike today were Ashiam Din, Mohd Ibrahim, Abdul Khurshid, Zakir Hussain, Abdul Qayoom, Mohd Din and Abdul Gafoor.
Other prominent who addressed the gathering were Ravi Kumar, Puran Chand and other.
