UDHAMPUR, Sept 26: The PHE workers and employees took out a strong protest rally at Dhar road, here today, for release of their pending wages since 52 months and highlighting other demands.
The protest was organized under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, led by its senior vice president (Jammu province) Som Nath.
A large number of employees and workers, drawn from Chenani, Kud, Patnitop, Tikri, Jib-Thathi, Jaghanoo, Sounthian, Baryal, Ghari Rehambal and other areas assembled at PHE Station Barrian and took out a rally from there to Dhar road Udhampur.
The protesting workers raised slogans in support of their demands, which also included implementation of SRO 520, Minimum Wages Act, providing adequate staff at the PHE stations facing shortage of workers, change of designation, DPC, etc.
While addressing the protest rally, Som Nath drew attention of the Governor’s administration towards plights of PHE workers and demanded implementation of SRO 520 besides release of wages, pending for the last 52 month. “We urge to the Governor to personally intervene into the matter and get the pending wages released besides implementation of SRO 520,” he said.
The Association general secretary Vijay Sharma also addressed the gathering and threatened to stop work if wages are not released. Other who addressed, included Suraj Parkash, Makhan Chand, Dinesh Kesar, Amit Dubey, Prabu Dayal, Prem Nath, Subash Chander, Rajinder Kumar, Kulbhushan Bhat, Bodh Raj, Badan and Balbir.
