JAMMU, Oct 1: A large number of PHE daily rated workers are without wages for the last nearly 25 months and many of them are facing starvation.
Speaking in the meeting of the all the provincial units at division level here today, president of State unit of INTUC and Water Workers (PHE) Employees Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma alleged that workers are struggling for their wages and regularization but the Government has paid no heed towards their problems. He said as stated by office bearers of various divisional level units, many workers are facing starvation as they have not been paid their wages for the last 24-25 months.
The INTUC leader demanded that all the workers be paid in time and their arrears be released without any delay. He also said that Government must shun the trend of releasing wages on Eid and Diwali. All the workers be paid regularly every month. They also projected other demands like enhancement of Medical allowance, merger of 50 % DA in basic pay and releasing of 10 % DA.
