JAMMU, Apr 3: Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, daily rated workers of PHE are without wages as the Government has failed to release the same.
According to PHE Workers Welfare Association president, Ravi Kumar Hans, more than 22 thousands daily wagers are giving their services in the PHE Department. Despite the fact that these workers give their services as regular employees, they were paid meager Rs 4000 to 5000 only per month that too not timely, he said and urged the Government to immediately release the pending wages of these workers.
Hans further said that Rs one crore were released by the Government on March 23 for safety equipments to the PHE field staff but the same were not provided to them till date. He alleged that the Government was making only statements but doing nothing on ground.
The Association leader urged the Lt Governor to personally look into the matter and ensure that wages of daily wagers are released and distributed besides the PHE field staff is provided safety kits.
