Kashmir has also come in the grip of radicals and since the gun is rampant, radicalism is enforced through the power of the gun. However, the civil Government, the military and law enforcing agencies all are trying to wean away the estranged youth and bring them back to the mainstream. There is no problem with radicalization but when it aims at damaging or confronting other religious denominations or intimidating them, the law and order in a state is jeopardized. The Army Chief while answering the question of the media persons said that various steps were being taken to wean away the youth in Kashmir from radical streams. A number of incentives are given to them to understand that development and progress are conditional to peace and tranquillity.
Army Chief has made it clear that the Army is fully prepared to meet any challenge thrown by the enemy. It is assigned the task of meeting this challenge and as such the Army has its plans of how security of the country will be ensured but the bigger policy decisions are in the hands of the elected Government in the country and in the State. He claims that militancy cadres are drying up because of the operation All Out in which many top commanders of terrorist groups have been eliminated. The militants are desperate and the more important thing is that the civilian population is giving more and more cooperation to the Army. Dependable information is being brought to the Army which has enabled the Army to conduct successful operations against the militants. This is a good change and indicates that people in Kashmir now understand that they have been misled into militancy and separatist movement and should reconsider to return from a path of disaster.
