KISHTWAR, Nov 3: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Field Office, Doda here today started a two-day photo exhibition at Government Degree College Kishtwar to educate the public about newly enacted criminal laws and other major national initiatives.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayum, was chief guest on this occasion and he inaugurated the exhibition.
SP Operations, N.A Khawaja was guest of honour and Dy.SP Sajjad Khan was special guest.
The exhibition spotlighted three significant legislative reforms-Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), replacing Indian Penal Code of 1860; Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), replacing the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1973 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), replacing the Indian Evidence Act of 1872.
In addition to these laws, the exhibition covered important national initiatives and flagship programmes of Government of India, including Poshan Abhiyan, Swachhta Hi Seva Phase-2, Mission LiFE, International Film Festival of India and Creative Minds of Tomorrow.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest emphasized the need for public understanding of these new laws.
“These reforms are intended to make justice accessible, fair and prompt for all citizens,” he maintained adding, “The legal reforms reflect India’s commitment to modernize its justice system and this exhibition by CBC provides an excellent platform to make the public aware of these changes.”
The event saw participation from the NCC and NSS wings of Govt Degree College Kishtwar, under the guidance of Programme Officer, Prof. Esar-ul-Ayub and Dr. Tabassum, CTO NCC in collaboration with CBC.
Gurnam Singh, Incharge CBC Udhampur, provided a detailed overview of CBC’s ongoing efforts.
