JAMMU, Feb 24: A photography workshop was inaugurated today by Prof Satnam Kaur, Principal, Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu in the Department of Applied Art.
Choudhary Sunder, a famous and eminent professional photographer has been invited as resource person to conduct the workshop. The students and faculty members of the art departments of the institute are taking part in the workshop.
The workshop would put light on the themes like ‘The Science of Photography’, ‘Art of Photography’, ‘Aesthetics and other aspects of Photography Images’ as well as the practical sessions on technical practices with camera.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof Satnam Kaur said that such workshops are a part of interactive activities being organized by the Institute. She said that the professional advice of the highly trained and professional photographers would benefit the students and staff of the Institute in the field of creative and applied arts as disciplines of studies, being undertaken by the University of Jammu at the institute. She added that the academic and professional practices by the experts would help the students to have good chances of their training and careers.
Prof Kaur also inaugurated display of Photography and applied art outputs in the premise and had the round of display.
Earlier, Rakesh Sharma, senior faculty in the Department of Applied Art, in his welcome address, said that though the students are exposed to photography on digital and latest technology, but the workshop would enable the participants to have exclusive information and practical knowledge about equipment, techniques, processes and practice of photography under the guidance of expert resource persons.
Academic sessions and interactive sessions were followed by practical sessions.
Falguni Katoch, connected to mass communication, artists Amarjeet Singh, Vanika Gupta, Dr Milan Sharma, Rachita Dutta, Jang S Verman and others were also present in the programme.
