SRINAGAR, July 10: Police Headquarters have accorded sanction for the attachment of four residential houses and seizure of three vehicles used for providing assistance in militant activities in Kashmir.
Under different PHQ orders, it ordered sanction for the attachment of four residential houses which were involved in harbouring and providing assistance to carry out militant activities.
Sanctions were also accorded for the seizure of three vehicles including one two wheeler used for unlawful activities.
The attachment sanction was accorded to two residential houses at Lawaypora Srinagar and one at Maloora Srinagar. The owners of these houses as per police investigations had provided shelter to militants who carried out attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) last year.
Four CRPF personnel were injured in the militant attack and two out of them succumbed to their injuries. “During investigation it was also revealed that the accused had provided shelter and all logistic support to militants in their houses for several times to carry out attacks,” police said.
Police registered a case (FIR No. 48/2021 U/S 120-B, 302, 307, 392 IPC 7/27, 7/27 A Act 16,18, 20 UAPA) in Police Station Parimpora soon after the attack and carried out investigations.
During the investigation of the case, police found that three residential houses of Mohamamd Yousuf Sofi father of accused Baber Suhail of Lawaypora, Adil Mohammad Lone son of Ghulam Mohammad Lone of Lawaypora, Khursheed Ahmad father of accused Muzaffar Ahmad Mir and Rameez Ahamd Mir of were used for providing assistance to three militants involved in the commission of attack upon CRPF personnel deployed for ROP duties at Lawypora.
During investigations in another case (FIR No. 95/2021 U/S 307 IPC 7/27 I A Act 13, 16, 18, 19, 20, UA (P) Act) registered at Police Station Harwan in Srinagar, it was found that the residential house of Abdul Rehman Bhat son of Abdul Razak Bhat of Darbagh Harwan in Srinagar was used for militant activities as his son Ashiq Hussain Bhat was harbouring militants in it.
“In view of facts circumstances and the evidence collected during the investigation of the instant case, it has been proved that the immovable property- instant residential house represents proceeds of terrorism.”
During investigation of cases (FIR No.110/2022 U/S 353 IPC 13,38,39 UA (P) Act 7/25 Arms Act) registered at Police Station Ganderbal and (FIR No. 151/2022 U/S 307 IPC, 7/27 I. A. Act, 16,18,19,20,38,39 ULAP Act) registered in Police Station Pulwama, it came to fore that vehicle Scorpio bearing number HR51AR-5070 registered in the name of Lateef Ahmad Kambay son of Ghulam Mohammad Kamby, resident of Wakora Tulmulla Ganderbal and one Piago Auto load carrier No. JK13E-7129 registered in the name of Aquib Yousuf Mir son of Mohammad Yousuf Mir resident of Hakripora (brother of accused Mohammad Saleem Mir) and TVS Scooty No. JK13G-2726 registered in the name of accused Irshad Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Ismayil Malik were used for carrying out militant activities.
A police statement said that in exercise of powers conferred by Section 25 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 DGP, the J&K accorded sanction for attachment and seizure of the immovable and movable properties in these cases.
“During the year 2021 PHQ accorded sanction for seizure of 75 vehicles, (which include mostly four wheelers and two wheelers), 5 houses, 6 shops, land and cash under UAPA,” it read.
