Srinagar, July 31: Senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer and Additional Director General (Media and Communication) Press Information Bureau, Srinagar, Obaidur Rahman superannuated from 38-years long Government service today and was accorded a warm farewell here.
A PIB spokesman said that, an impressive function was held at Press Information Bureau, Srinagar office to give warm farewell to Rehman. The function was presided over by Director (Northern Region) Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh Ravinder Singh, who came all the way from Chandigarh to wish good luck to Rahman.
Rahman joined the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in 1978 in the Central Monitoring Service (AIR) in Shimla. Since then he has served at various positions in different departments coming under Ministry of I&B like Directorate of Field Publicity, All India Radio and Press Information Bureau.
“The contribution to the departments he has served is considered to be exemplary and exceptional. Known for his honesty, dedication, humility and professionalism, Rahman will be highly missed by his peers, colleagues and subordinates. The entire I&B fraternity has wished him good luck for the life ahead,” the spokesman said.
