PIB organises seminar, bike rally to promote WAVES

JAMMU, Dec 23: In order to promote the upcoming World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), a seminar and a bike rally organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Jammu was held here today.
The programme was organised by PIB in collaboration with the University of Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest of the event, Vikramjit Singh, Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the role of technology in democratizing content creation.
He said, “The past decade has seen a tremendous shift in how content is created and distributed. Emerging technologies, especially AR and VR, have made it more affordable and accessible to create high-quality content. Today, anyone with the right skills can become a creator.”
“India’s diverse cultural and linguistic landscape provides a unique advantage. Our multilingual markets are unmatched by global competitors and there is significant investment potential in catering to these specific audiences. WAVES is an excellent opportunity for individuals to enter the industry and showcase their creativity to a global audience,” he added.
Director, PIB Jammu, Neha Jalali spoke about the interconnected nature of media, where content creators and consumers are united.
She said, “Content creation is not only about art but has a direct economic impact. With the rise of OTT platforms, we see an increasingly organized sector that benefits both citizens and the economy.”
She further highlighted the importance of policy-making and collaboration across sectors to propel the media industry forward.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman, Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM), Manik Batra highlighted the rapid transformation of the media industry, driven by evolving technologies and changing consumer behaviours.”
Dean, Students’ Welfare, JU, Prakash Anthal thanked the Press Information Bureau (PIB) for collaborating with the Jammu University (JU) about the awareness program and bike rally ahead of the global summit.
The event was well-received by the audience, particularly students, who were enthusiastic about the prospects of the World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit.
Earlier, a bike rally was flagged off from the university campus, showcasing support and creating awareness for the summit. The WAVES is set to bring together key stakeholders from the global audio-visual and entertainment sectors to discuss emerging trends, opportunities and innovations. WAVES will be held in New Delhi from 5-9 February, 2025.
