PIB organizes webinar on ‘Govt initiatives to boost economy during Covid-19’

JAMMU, July 17: Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, organised webinar on “Govt initiatives to boost economy during covid-19 lockdown” today which included speakers from Industries, Commerce, entrepreneurship and other diverse fields as well as academicians and economics and management Students.
The Webinar was done in close coordination with the Department of Economics, University of Jammu. The session was moderated by Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, PIB Jammu.
The webinar focussed on various aspects related to the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, economic initiatives post Covid19 to boost industrial sector and entrepreneurship, J&K Start-up policy and entrepreneurship promotion among youth and revival of industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the ‘Socioeconomic Measures to boost economy with a special focus on Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ during the webinar, Professor Dipankar Sengupta said that the economic measures announced by the Government were impressive and turned this crisis into a great opportunity to transform the very nature of the Indian economy and called for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ or self reliant India.
With the change in the definition of MSMEs by the recent decision of the Government, he said that MSMEs create maximum employment in India and the decision will now allow MSMEs to expand in a relaxed manner, will generate more employment and the corpus of Rs 10,000 crore for MSMEs will provide equity funding for MSMEs with growth potential and viability.
Director, Industries and Commerce, J&K , Anu Malhotra, while mentioning various initiatives taken by Department of Industries and Commerce, said that the all steps were being taken to ensure that people can avail the benefits under Atmanirbhar Bharat Programme. She mentioned the provisions for credit disbursement, collateral free loans.
Anil Suri, former President BBIA, spoke on the revival of industrial sector in Jammu and the issues faced by them during Covid19 lockdown.
Dr Pabitra Kumar Jena, Assistant Professor, School of Economics, SMVDU, threw light on the ‘100 StartUps JK’ project and said that this programme is expected to reap many benefits that include huge learning potential for the participating individuals, awareness generation as well as development of self sustaining entrepreneurial ecosystem in J&K.
