PIL on illegal construction takes new turn; DB issues notice to petitioner

JAMMU, Mar 10: Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding illegal construction by the land mafia took new turn when private respondents alleged that petitioner was demanding money for withdrawing petition.
When the PIL was taken-up, Advocate Shah Mohd Choudhary appearing for the private respondents submitted that the Naresh Gupta has been demanding huge cash for withdrawal of the present PIL.
Taking serious note of this, Division Bench comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar observed, “it is most unfortunate if these allegations are authentic”. Accordingly, DB issued notice to petitioner Naresh Kumar Gupta, son of K L Gupta, resident of H.No 140 Paharian Street near Geeta Mandir, to show cause why penal proceedings be not issued and suitable action taken against him.
Division Bench also directed private respondents to place on record the CD which has allegedly recorded the conversation between Naresh Kumar Gupta and others and transcribe the same supported with an affidavit.
Advocate Virender Bhat appeared for the PIL whereas AAG Seema Shekhar for the State and Advocate SS Nanda for JMC.
