Pilgrimage tourism potential of J&K needs boost: Andrabi

JAMMU, Aug 3: Chairperson J&K Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today said that pilgrimage tourist potential of Jammu and Kashmir needs a big boost.
Talkig to media-persons during her visit to Surankote in Poonch she said that lakhs of pilgrims visit shrines of Jammu and Kashmir every year. There is urgent need to give a big post to the pilgrimage tourism potential in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Andrabi further said that the changed work culture in Waqf Board has ensured a time bound completion of projects which save a lot of resources. “All infrastructural development projects of Waqf are now completed within the fixed time frame and within the estimated budget allocation. Transparency & accountability is delivering like never before”, Andrabi added.
She lauded the transformative efforts of the Waqf Managed School by introducing modern education courses on her instructions. Andrabi said that she will take up the plan of developing this picturesque shrine location at Takia Badshah as a site for Pilgrimage Tourism with the Government soon.
Andrabi who concluded her six day Peer Panchal region visited paid visit to Surankote and met with many public delegations, inspected construction work at Takia Ghulam Shah Badshah (RA) & participated in a programme of Waqf School in the campus. Dr Andrabi was accorded a warm welcome by the local civil society members, Waqf staff and BJP activists on her arrival at Surankote. She interacted with Bharatiya Janata Party delegation.
Civil society representatives, religious leaders and reviewed the public outreach programmes initiated by the party in connection with the remarkable nine years of Prime Minister’s leadership in India. She later took stock of the construction work at Takia Badshah which was initiated by her on August 5, 2022 during her last visit to the shrine.
