Pillion rider arrested with heroin

JAMMU, June 12: Police arrested a pillion rider along with 5 grams heroin under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ from Babliana area, falling under the jurisdiction of Satwari police station.
As per police sources, based on specific information, a team from police station Satwari laid a naka at Babliana and signaled a without registration number motorcycle to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the bike and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased the motorcycle and succeeded in apprehending the pillion rider.
During checking, police recovered 5 grams heroin from the possession of the pillion rider and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Puran Chand, a resident of Phalian Mandal.
However, bike rider namely Sunny Kumar, son of Makhan Lal, a resident of Indira Nagar. Miran Sahib managed to escape from the spot and hunt has been launched to nab him.
A case under FIR Number 109/16 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Satwari police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SI Pardeep Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh, SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
