Pinki awarded ‘Sangeet Madhuri’ title by NDS

JAMMU, Apr 12: Pinki Bali, daughter of renowned vocalist and former principal of Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu, was awarded with the title of “Sangeet Madhuri” by Nami Dogri Sanstha in a well attended function, here today.
Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Provost Boys Hostel, University of Jammu, was the chief guest of the function. Dr Aziz Hajini, secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Jammu presided over the function.
Renowned personalities Abdul Qayoom Manhas, Ranjeet Kalra, Subash Shastri, Ravi Magotra, KK Lidhoo and Arsh Sehbai were the guests of honour. The dais was co shared by the Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, president, NDS.
KL Sehgal Hall, Abhinav Theatre Jammu was over packed with the music lovers to listen the great vocalist of the soil, Pinki Bali, who started her recital with Shri Ganesh Vandana, “Vakar Tund Maha Kaya Suryakoti Samprabha, Nirvighnam Kuru Me Dev Sarv Karyeshyu Sarvada” and Maa Bhagwati Vandana, “Sarav Mangal Mangle Shive Sarvarth Sadhike, Shranye Tryambke Gori Narayani Namostute” both set in “Raag Yaman”. She then sang a number of Bhajans by the different Saints like Brahmanand Ji, Goswami Tulsi Dass Ji, Saint Sur Dass Ji, Meera Bhai, Padma Sachdev, etc.
The vocal performance of Pinki mesmerized the audience. She was accompanied by Vijay Anand at Tabla and Dholak and Krishan Kumar Johny at Synth under overall supervision of renowned singer and musician of the State, Suraj Singh.
