Piyakul residents protest against PDD

DODA, May 31: Locals of village Piyakul in Sub District Thathri here today staged a protest demonstration against PDD for failing to install iron electric poles and in the area.
The protest was led by Ch. Allah Ditta, Mohd Hanif and Bashir Ahmed.
Addressing the protesters they said that absence of iron electric poles and standard wires pose a risk to their lives and property.
“Tress are being used as electric poles and the wires remain hanging from the trees posing risk to their lives,” they maintained.
The village is only at a distance of 500 meters from Thathri Kilhotran road and 3 km from Tehsil Headquarters Kahara.
Mohd Hanif said at many places high and low voltage electric wires remain hanging from the trees which pose a threat to the lives of people.
“We approached PDD XEN Kishtwar many times demanding installation of iron poles in the area but no heed was paid to our demand,” he continued adding: “We regularly pay electric bills but PDD is not installing iron electric poles in the area.”
The locals have threatened to come out on roads and block Thathri-Kishtwar road if PDD failed to instal iron electric poles in the area.
