JAMMU, Mar 14: The Panun Kashmir (PK) held a meeting here, today to take the stock of the activities and the latest political developments. The meeting was chaired by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, its President-. Those who attended the meeting included Prof. M.L.Raina, Chairman-PAC, Virender Raina, National spokesperson, J.L.Kaul, vice president, Upinder Kaul, general secretary, Kamal Bagati, organising secretary, Vijay Qazi, Ramesh Kaul and Sameer Bhat.
In his address Mr Chrungoo said that P K would continue to remain engaged with the nationalist forces in the State and across the country in view of the impending elections to the Lok Sabha. These elections have assumed very serious political dimensions since they are supposed to change the political dialogue in the country in favour of the nationalist forces. A large segment of the Indian populace comprising the youth and the first time voters are enthusiastically looking for the positive change. The Kashmiri Pandits have to play their critical role as the harbingers of positive nationalist sentiments in the country. Their sacrifices in upholding the national values despite adverse circumstances need to be acknowledged, he added.
He said the K Ps ethnic cleansing in Kashmir and exodus have to be brought at the centre stage of the political discourse. P K under no circumstances would allow the issues related to the Kashmiri Pandits be brushed under the carpet, he added.
Virender Raina, in his address said that the recommendations contained in the latest report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs showing concern and eagerness to mitigate the sufferings of the displaced community need to be taken seriously by the State and Central governments.
He demanded all recommendations that have potential to mitigate the sufferings of the displaced community should be implemented in letter and spirit. Prof. M.L.Raina, said that the Temples Bill is a big test for the government and the political class of the State and the Kashmiri Hindu leadership would welcome it any debate on the Bill.
