JAMMU, June 18: Expres-sing grave concern over situation in Kashmir, Panun Kashmir today said that it has created a serious alarm for the nation.
The PK, which held a meeting of its Executive Council here, today under the leadership of its president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said a perception has been gaining ground that the Government is hiding behind the security forces while it ought to have been on the front in the fight against terrorism. This is intriguing as to how a dozen terrorists made it possible to attend the funeral of a slain terrorist in Kashmir with guns in their hands and fired a volley of shots publicly while the last rites of the martyr policemen did not witness the Chief Minister or the Minister on the occasion.
Chrungoo termed it a serious issue for the people who are concerned and believe that the Governments support their brave soldiers. People would like to see a visible Government throughout the length and breadth of the State and towards which the democratic Government will have to do a lot of serious thinking, he added.
Virender Raina, National spokesperson said that with the change of guard at the Centre, the Kashmiri Pandit community has developed hope and confidence to appeal to the Government of India to constitute a Special Crimes Tribunal (SCT) in the J&K to go into the excesses committed against the indigenous people of Kashmir –the Kashmiri Pandits.
