PK holds review meeting

JAMMU, Dec 30: After successful programme of Margdarshan Day, Panun Kashmir (PK) held a review meeting here, today. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Virender Raina, president, PK and the chairman, PAC. Those who participated in the meeting included among others Prof. M.L Raina, advisor, Upinder Kaul, general secretary, Kamal Bagati, general secretary (Org.), J.L.Kaul, vice president, Ashok Chrungoo, treasurer, B L Garyali , P.K.Bhan P.N.Pandita and Sameer Bhat, convenor, Panun Kashmir Youth.
PK expressed gratitude to the LG and UT administration for deleting and correcting the distortions in the history of Kashmir.
These distortions were kept deliberately in older to keep the secessionist agenda alive. Panun Kashmir was consistently raising these issues by organising protests, seminars on these occasions, at various occasions and at various levels for the last 30 years. “Our efforts ultimately bore fruit, and is yet another feather in the success story of nationalist forces after abrogation of Articles 370, 35A and reorganisation of the State”.
The Accession Day on October 26 was a historical day should have been celebrated and rejoiced, but instead was celebrated as a protest day by vested interests supported by the so called main stream political parties. Declaring holiday on this day is a big tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh and the soldiers who sacrificed their lives while fighting with Pakistan in 1947 War.
Holiday on July 13 was the biggest distortion in the history of Kashmir. Those who unleashed arson, destroyed and looted the property worth crores and murdered innocent Kashmiri Pandits, then few of them killed in retaliation in police firing were portrayed as martyrs and the day was observed as Martyrs Day. The nine members of Kashmiri Pandit Mattoo family including three kids and ladies of village Kanikoot of Budgam district were brutally murdered and later the house was set on fire by the people of village Watkulu, two young boys, Janki Nath and Shamisdin managed to escape, two other members Radha Krishan Mattoo and Prem Nath Mattoo who were not present and were in Srinagar, survived, besides some other such incidents in the Srinagar city.
The souls of those martyrs may have been in big pain because their murders were portrayed as martyrs. Now they may attain peace after 88 long years of wait.
However it is astonishing to note that all holidays which are connected with different religions of J&K UT have been assigned one day holiday however, in respect to Eid-ul-Zuha have been marked for two days. This is the symbol of the residue of Muslim majoritarianism and precedence that was followed and implemented in the State for last seven decades.
