PK organises seminar on refugee crisis

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 20: On the eve of the ‘World Refugee Day’ Panun Kashmir (PK) organized a seminar at Sanskriti Bhavan, Aap Shambhu Road, Roop Nagar, Jammu. The topic of the seminar was Jammu Kashmir, Jehad, genocide-the refugees crisis since 1947.
Kashmir expert, Political commentator, writer and Chairman of the Advisory of Panun Kashmir Prof. Mohan KrishanTeng presided over the function. The following speakers drawn from across the organizations from Jammu spoke on the occasion.
Yuvraj Gupta, eminent social worker and PoJK leader, Rashpal Singh Chib, President, PoJK Displaced Persons Front, Labha Ram Gandhi, president, West Pakistan Refugees Action Front, Dr. Agnishekhar, convener Panun Kashmir and Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, chairman, Panun Kashmir.
During the course of discussions it emerged that “Autonomy & Self-Rule”, which is the defining politics of the Kashmir centric political parties and demand for “freedom or Pakistan” by the separatist constituency in Jammu and Kashmir are primarily a reflection of the Kashmiri Muslims’ intent at the exclusivity of an Islamic State. When Muslim refugees from China and Tibet are quickly absorbed and bestowed citizenship and basic rights, and the Hindu refugees shown ambivalence while decrying their absorption in State as a demographic assault, it’s again the foreplay of the Jehadist mindset, which seeks well-being and protection of the Ummah and destruction and deprivation of the “other”.
The participants also expressed that Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and other minority groups in the State are victims of this Jehadist syndrome. Hence, to expect justice for the Hindu refugees would be a far cry from the truth.
Through the resolutions which were adopted in the seminar the participants resolved that organizations of Hindu refugees of 1947 to 1990, including Panun Kashmir should close ranks and work out a strategy to get justice.
The participants also concluded that they are the victims of an ideological movement, which seeks the destruction of the “other”, the “non-believer” and his permanent inferiorization.
They also felt that the Hindu refugees shall have to use all such means and instrumentalities, which put their case in a perspective and in an internationally recognized frame-work.
It was also decided that the Hindu refugees shall have to challenge all such euphemism and policies of the State that have kept them embroiled in a situation of confusion and helplessness for almost seventy years.
The participants felt concerned and disconcerted by some reports that Dharmarth Trust, the custodian of Hindu Temples and shrines in the State, was contemplating to sell off the premises belonging to the Guptganga Asthapan situated in Srinagar. It was expressed that the Guptganga was an important symbol and holy place to the Sanskrit civilization of Kashmir linked to Shaivacharya Abhinavgupt. The place was synonymous to the polymath Abhinavgupt of Kashmir, and references to the same were available in the ancient texts of Kashmir. The place had a great significance to the growth of Kashmir Shaivism.
Shailendra Aima steered the proceedings and presented a paper. Kuldeep Raina presented the vote of thanks.
