JAMMU, Oct 7: In a webinar held today, Panun Kashmir reiterated it’s demand of a separate homeland in Kashmir for seven lakh Kashmiri Pandit diaspora with complete national ethos and culture. The prominent who participated in the webinar included the president PK, Virender Raina, its general secretaries, Kamal Bagati and Upinder Koul, convenor, PK Youth, Sameer Bhat and Ashok Chrungoo among others.
President, PK, Virender Raina while addressing the webinar said that Kashmiri Pandits have suffered genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kashmir and it needs to be acknowledged by the civilized world. The perpetrators, who have committed these horrendous crimes against the peaceful Kashmiri Pandits need to be tried for war crimes and brought to justice. After this process is complete, reparations and resettlement in Kashmir of the Kashmiri Pandit diaspora has to take place as per the wishes and aspirations of the community.
In the webinar, Virender Raina also raised the issue of the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill for the protection and preservation of the temples in Kashmir. He said that the temples of Kashmir represent our 5000 years old Sharda civilization and need to be preserved for posterity. Raina added that the passage of the bill for the preservation of temples in Kashmir would also serve as a big confidence building measure amongst the displaced community for resettlement in Kashmir.
Kamal Bagati while addressing the webinar appealed to all those members of the community who could not register themselves, for different reasons, to get themselves registered with the Relief Commission for obtaining the Domicile Certificate. Kamal Bagati also appealed to the Government for holding camps for issuing Ayushman Bharat cards for the displaced community so as to enable them to avail of medical treatment at designated hospitals.
Upinder Koul and Sameer Bhat raised the issues concerning the KP youth and demanded the swift implementation of the employment package for the displaced community.
