PK terms Margdarshan resolution historic event

JAMMU, Dec 27: On the eve of the 30th,’Maragdarshan Devis’, Panun Kashmir (PK) held a meeting of its Core Group to discuss the Margdarshan resolution in the present context of the socio-political scenario of the UT and to take stock of the recent emerging developments and also to chalk out a strategy for the future.
The meeting was addressed by its president, Virender Raina and among others who spoke included Kamal Bagati, general secretary (Org), Upinder Koul general secretary, Sameer Bhat, convenor PK Youth, Ashok Chrungoo treasurer, P.K.Bhan, Kewal Krishen, Sameer Mattoo, Sanjay Kaul and Sanjay Raina.
Virender Raina in his address said that the passage of the Margdarshan resolution was a historical event in the annals of KP history. It was the Margdarshan resolution which for the first time articulated the geo political aspirations of the KP community in a clear and unambiguous manner. The resolution envisaged the creation of a separate homeland on the North and East of the river Jhelum for all the Kashmiri Pandits who got scattered to distant lands in India and abroad as result of centuries of persecution, culminating in the complete exodus of the community in 1990. The resolution also envisaged that the area thus created would have a Union Territory status with free flow of Indian Constitution and without Article 370.
Virender Raina added that one important part of the Margdarshan resolution relating to the abrogation of Article 370 having been achieved and work is still in progress on the balance of the resolution.
On the occasion Virender Raina also said that the employment package for the KP youth needs to be differentiated from permanent resettlement and rehabilitation of the community in Kashmir. The resettlement of KPs in the Valley is a highly sensitive political issue and needs to be dealt with politically by holding a serious dialogue with the representatives of the community.
Senior leader P.K.Bhan said that the Delimitation Commission must recommend the reservation or the nomination of five Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat to the internally displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
Upinder Koul demanded soft loans for over-aged youth and skill development may be provided to them so that they can start their own businesses.
The members took a pledge to take the Homeland struggle to its logical conclusion.
