PK’s concern over Govt’s apathy towards Pandits

JAMMU, Apr 21: Panun Kashmir (PK) organised a prominent citizens meet at here at Roop Nagar here, today to discuss the prevalent conditions in the UT in particular and country in general.
The main speakers who spoke on the occasion included P.L.Badgami, B.L.Dhar , P.L.Raina and Dr.Ajay Chrungoo Chairman PK.
The programme was anchored by Behari Lal Koul.
Dr. Ajay Chrungoo expressed his astonishment at the treatment that the Government of India continues to exhibit regarding the issues of Kashmiri Pandits. An apathy continues to be displayed for Kashmiri Pandits. The exile of Kashmiri Pandits is still not recognised. The epithet “migrant” has sadly become synonymous with Kashmiri Pandits. The Government calls us as “exiled”, outside our country or during elections to reap a harvest of votes. The genocide is continuously being overlooked and denied. That is now taking its expression in the areas outside Kashmir and in the rest of India. No measures as have been suggested time and again by PK are being taken to give a halt to eastward expansion of terrorism. Creation of homeland for Kashmiri Pandits in East and North of river Jhelum would have given a grinding halt to this expansion besides discouraging and demolishing the ranks of terrorism and their mentors.
He said PK drafted Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Bill and sent to all the MPs and legislators besides delivering it to Prime Minister , for passing it in the Parliament to frame a law for treating the problems of genocide and ethnic cleansing in the country for all times to come besides, giving the law agencies a tool to deal with the problem in the present circumstances.
He said it is intriguing to see that the draft bill has not been taken care of so far and never been discussed in Parliament.
It is appalling and shameful how the PM package employees are being dealt with even after a number of them fell as selected targets. They are being denied their salaries and freedom and are not allowed to venture out freely. Their demand of transferring their posts to Jammu and other safer areas are being denied, he added.
Other speakers who spoke on the occasion were equally critical and spoke eloquently expressing the similar concerns ,and expressed their full support for the movement, and warned to come on roads and launch agitation.
