Srinagar, Sept 12: A senior separatist leader of Peoples League (PL) Abdul Rashid Ghazi was mysteriously found dead on Thursday near Putkha, Kreeri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Relatives alleged that Rashid was beaten to death by some unknown persons as his head was bleeding profusely. “It is a clear case of murder, not an accident”, they alleged.
They said the deceased was returning from Anantnag after attending the condolence meeting of Party Chairman Mukhatar Ahmad Waza’s mother.
Rashid was taken to Government hospital Baramulla where his postmortem was conducted.
Police said that according to initial investigations, the circumstantial evidences of the spot suggest that it is a hit and run road accidental case. Police have taken the cognizance and are investigating.
