RAJOURI, Mar 23: The residents of Planghar village are facing severe hardships due to severe air pollution and environmental degradation, caused by a stone crusher established by Dharam Raj Construction Company, which was later sublet to TBA Infrastructure RPJV Pvt Ltd for the construction of the Rajouri-Bufliaz road.
The continuous operation of the crusher has led to significant air and noise pollution, severely affecting the health and daily lives of the local population. Villagers allege that there is no proper check on the material being processed at the crusher or how it is being utilized. Further complicating accountability, DRC Company reportedly sublet the work to another company, allegedly leading to widespread illegal mining in the area. This has not only caused extensive environmental damage but has also worsened the plight of the local residents.
The situation has become alarming due to the dust clouds generated by the crusher’s operation, making it difficult for people to breathe and conduct their daily activities. Additionally, the incessant noise pollution from the heavy machinery has disturbed the peace at the village, creating further distress among the residents.
They alleged that despite repeated complaints, the administration has not taken any concrete step to address the concerns of the people. The villagers are demanding immediate intervention by the concerned authorities to regulate the crusher’s operations, ensure proper monitoring of material usage, and investigate the alleged illegal mining activities.
The affected residents have urged the District Administration and environmental agencies to take immediate cognizance of the matter and implement strict measures to ensure compliance with environmental norms.
