JAMMU, Apr 22: Plantation drives, speeches and different competitions were held to celebrated World Earth Day.
Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing organized a function to mark World Earth Day in which students and faculty of Department of Botany and Department of Biotechnology University of Jammu participated. Ex-Principal Chief Conservator of Forests SD Swantra was the chief guest on the occasion. Director DEERS J&K interacted with the students during their visit to Raika Park and informed them about the plant and animal diversity in the park. The technical section of the event was held at Directorate Office at Paryavaran Bhavan Gladani Narwal. Dr Mohit Gera APCCF gave a detailed power point presentation on climate change and importance of forests.
APCCF, Roshan Jaggi and Prof. Yash Paul Sharma addressed the participants. Stalls of eco-friendly forest products and banners/hoarding were displayed for sensitizing the participants. Students who participated in the quiz were also felicitated on the occasion.
NSS Wing of Government College of Education in collaboration with Environmental Sciences Department of the college commemorated World Earth Day. On the occasion, Prof Anju Bala, Dean Students Welfare threw light on the importance of the day. Prof Sunita Devi, NSS Programme Officer, Prof Purnima from Department of Environmental Sciences and many others were present on the occasion.
To celebrate International Earth Day, hundreds of MHAC School Nagbani cleaned around 3 acre area around Nag Mandir closely associated with school. The students dug the soil around planted trees & watered them. The students were informed about the significance of different tress. The tiny tots, LKG and UKG students also displayed posters of trees and also wore the Earth Day badges. Principal Sween Puri was also present.
The students of APS Jammu Cantt celebrated Earth Day. On the occasion, Dr Ashutosh Sharma, Co-Chairman of National Environment Strategic Knowledge and other Mission on Climate Change and Development in India, Director General and CEO of ICDRC interacted with the students and faculty of APSJC and shared his experiences. Principal Ratna Mallick also addressed the students. To commemorate the day, a series of events were organized including plantation drive, slogan writing and painting competitions.
Earth Day was celebrated by Army Public School Damana. Kulbushan Sharma, President Jammu Rural Development was the chief guest of the occasion. A number of activities including singing of songs, speeches, nature walk, slogan writing, poster making and group discussions were also organized. Dr Renu Gupta, Principal of the School was also present.
The students and Staff of Dewan Devi Playway and Higher Secondary School celebrated World Earth Day. Kindergarten students were involved in different activities. Principal Seloni Anand was also present on the occasion.
To celebrate Earth Day, Nav Adarsh Higher Secondary School organized a poster making competition. In Junior Wing, Sheetal, Rachna and Sonia bagged first three positions respectively, whereas in Senior Wing, Aman, Risham and Sahil emerged winners. Chairperson of the school Lalita Katal was the chief guest on the occasion. Rakesh and Renuka adjudged the competition.
Chander Bhaga High School, Akhnoor celebrated the Earth Day. A special assembly was organized where students and teachers delivered their views about the environment conservation. The assembly was followed by a plantation drive within the school campus under the supervision of the school Principal Pawan Bhardwaj.
On the eve of the World Earth Day, Kartar Public School, Barnoti conducted various activities including cursive writing, slogan writing and poster making competitions in which students from primary to senior secondary sections participated. The best performers were given prizes and appreciation letters. Er Nirmaljit Singh, Chairman of the institution was also present.
International Earth Day was celebrated in Sarvodhya Public School Pouni Chack. On the occasion, the students participated in plantation drive. Principal of the school briefed the students about the importance of the Earth Day. Chairman of the school was also present on the occasion.
Bhartiya Shiksha Kender High School Domana celebrated World Earth Day. A nukad natak was staged to promote awareness at Machine Domana, Flora Nagbani, Nagbani Machhlian, Lower Thatter, Mandi Domana, Panchayat Ghar Domana and Patoli. A rally was also organized. On occasion, Rajinder Singh, Chairman of the school, staff members, students and many others were present on the occasion.
Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib celebrated World Earth Day. On the occasion, area at Miran Sahib Chowk along with Police Department and localities were cleaned by the students. A plantation drive and slogan writing competition were also held.
JK Montessorie and its affiliated unit JK Little Milliennium celebrated Earth Day. Various informative activities were organized to motivate the children about their responsibility towards “Mother Earth”. Debate, quiz competition, poems recitation and a skit were also organized. The students took part in tree plantation drive. Director Academics Rajni Gupta was also present on the occasion.
Earth Day was celebrated in both the branches of Wonder World School. Principal of the school Gitanjali Mahajan explained the importance of Mother Earth to the kindergarten kids. They were taken outdoor to water the plants and to plant saplings. Children of LKG and UKG were asked to prepare placard as part of a home assignment competition, in which Bhargvi, Riaan Puri and Jayesh from UKG clinched first three positions respectively, while Mann Gupta, Arsheen and Priyanshi Mahajan from LKG bagged first, second and third positions respectively. Meanwhile, children from Gandhi Nagar branch namely Devanshi, Ahana and Navneet from UKG bagged first three positions respectively, while Irit, Vibudh and Sameeha from LKG secured first three ranks respectively.
Earth Day was celebrated in Tiger Army Pre Primary School, Sunjwan Cantt. Kewal Wadheral, a renowned social activist motivated the students and teachers to save water and plant more tress to save Mother Earth. Students also expressed their views. Principal Jaspreet Kaur was also present. A cleanliness driver was also conducted.
Dressed in green colour dresses, the children of British International School celebrated Earth Day. Jagit Kumar, IG Traffic was the chief guest on the occasion. Chairperson Gita Sharma was also present on the occasion. A plantation drive was organized, wherein the children planted samplings in the school compound.
Doon International School celebrated Earth Day with zeal and enthusiasm. Different activities were organised for junior and senior wing students. Principal, Vikesh Kaur was also present on the occasion.
Mother’s Pride & Joy celebrated Earth Day. A variety of activities had been planned across a span of a week. A few activities undertaken were making of bottle planters, photo frames, recycled fashion parade, best out of waste exhibition. The children also spoke on the planet earth. The teachers spoke about conserving energy and saving water.
KIDZEE celebrated Earth Day at its Anand Nagar Bohri, Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Channi Himmat branches. A special assembly was conducted in which the facilitators gave demonstration regarding this special occasion to the kids and also briefed them about the importance of protection of earth. Drawing competition and plantation drive were the main attraction of the programme.
Mount Litera Zee School celebrated International Earth Day. Various activities including debate competition were organized on the occasion, in which students took part. AK Kapoor, Chairman of the school was the chief guest while Rahul Kapoor, Director of the school presided over the function. Rashmi Thakur, Coordinator of the school was also present. In debate competition, Janvi Sharma, Princess Khadotra and Prachi Verma emerged winners. The event concluded with the plantation drive.
Mount Litera Zee School (MLZS) celebrated International Earth Day in the presence of Er Parneesh Mahajan, Chairman, NSM Group of Schools and Colleges and MLZS Jammu. A special assembly was conducted in which the students delivered speech on importance of earth and how to save earth. Drawing competition and plantation drive were the main attraction of the programme. Manikarnika Bhasin, Principal of the school and Radhika Mahajan, Coordinator also presented their views on protection of nature and earth.
On the occasion of Earth Day, BJP Talab Tillo under the leadership of Jeet Angral Mandal President organised tree plantation programme. Keshav Chopra, Vice President, BJP Talab Tillo Mandal, Munish Gupta, Lovekesh Gondi, Manohari Devi, Swaran Samyal, Raghubir Kumar and many others were present on the occasion.
Aadarsh Bhartiya Samaj celebrated World Earth Day under the guidance of Col (Retd) RK Sharma, Chairman and Daljeet Singh, President ABS. Members spread the message of reduce, reuse, recycle, restore and replenish. Pt Chaman Lal Sharma requested all the citizens to plant more and more trees to save the planet earth.
An Exhibition of potted plants with miniature landscapes by Reva Gupta was inaugurated by OP Sharma Vidyarthi, Additional PCCF J&K Forest Department at Kala Kendra, here today. Among others present included Prof Yash Sharma, Botany Department, University of Jammu, Choudhary Sunder, a distinguished creative photographer, Vijay Gupta, a well known photo- artist, Dr. Raj Kumar, Painter and Diabetologist, Jang S Verman, Painter and Columnist on Art & Culture and Suman Gupta, a renowned landscapist.
