JAMMU, July 22: Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Sanjay Dhar has dismissed the plea challenging extension in services of Baseer Ahmed Khan (former IAS officer) for being rendered infructuous.
When the PIL came up for hearing through video conferencing, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed invited the attention of the Division Bench to Civil Miscellaneous Application wherein the petitioners challenged order No.26014/1/2019-AIS-II dated June 30, 2019 whereby Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Training, Govt of India accorded approval to the extension in service of Baseer Ahmed Khan as Divisional Commissioner Kashmir for a period of one year as a special case beyond the date of his superannuation.
“This application has been rendered infructuous with the efflux of time as Baseer Ahmed Khan has further been appointed/elevated to the post of Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor J&K and the cause projected in the instant application does not survive anymore and no useful purpose will be served to keep the same pending”, he added.
Division Bench taking note of the submissions made by Advocate Ahmed dismissed the application having been rendered infructuous.
