Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Dy CM for expeditious completion of SSA, RMSA projects’ DE Aug 8.
The emphasis laid by the Dy Chief Minister who also happens to be the Education Minister on completing various projects under RMSA and SSA flagship programmes is more than welcome.
But it is quite dismaying to note that there have been no consultations on promotion of teachers/masters or lecturers. Some tentative lists of promotee lecturers concerning various subjects were framed and subsequently published in newspaper some six months ago before model code of conduct for Parliamentary elections came into effect. Since then these promotion lists have been confined to files and no formal promotion orders have been issued. Even the adjustment of those who have been issued formal orders has not been made yet. They have been waiting anxiously for further adjustment in schools.
Now, when elections for State Assembly are round the corner, and the last Assembly session is in the offing, there is every apprehension that these promotion list will not see light of the day. The apprehensions are not unfounded keeping the past experience in view. The promotions list should be issued before model code of conduct comes into effect.
In case that does not happen, the promotion list will remain within the walls of Secretariat, one does not how long.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Commissioner Education are requested to issue the orders of promoted lecturers (English, Sociology, Hindi, Urdu) etc at the earliest, before model code of conduct comes into effect. It will be a great service to the education sector in the State.
Yours etc..
