The presence of some species of wildlife like leopards among the Trikuta Hills and particularly along the route (near Himkoti, Sanji Chath) to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is quite horrifying.I had a close encounter with two leopards when I was returning from the Darbar. The leopards chased me for some time before some ponywallas with sticks in their hands chased them away. The scene created fear among the yatris who had been walking on the track.
I request the Shrine Board authorities to keep the pilgrims aware of the presence of such animals in the area so that they remain alert during the travel. Besides, there is need to improve safety measures all along the route.
