PLS-J releases collection of Baljeet’s Punjabi ghazals

JAMMU, Feb 1: Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu (PLS-J) today released a collection of ghazals titled ‘Mere Eh Shabad Shakti Ne’ written by Dr Baljeet Singh Raina at KL Saigal Hall, Cultural Academy, Jammu in an impressive function attended by writers, intellectuals, artists, theatre and music personalities.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn was the chief guest on this occasion whereas Pritpal Singh Betab, a renowned Urdu Ghazal writer, presided over the function. Dr Monojit, president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu (PLS-J), Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik and Dr Baljeet Singh Raina also shared the dais.
Dr Nirmal Vinod and Col Raj Manawari read out detailed papers on the poetry and various aspects of content and expression contained in the book, released during the function. 88 ghazals in 18 ‘Behars’ (the kinds of composing patterns of the ghazal genre of poetry) have been included in this poetry book.
Col Raj Manawari explained the technical patterns used in Dr Baljeet Raina’s ghazals. He said that has experimented with the pattern of the Ghazal. Harjit Singh Uppal and Ratan Singh Kanwal recited poetry of Dr Baljeet in the programme. Dr Baljeet also recited few select poetry pieces from the released book.
In his address, Dr Arwinder Singh Amn said that in the ghazals of Dr Baljeet Singh Raina is quite adequate in fulfilling the qualities of a good ghazal. He said that the impact of Gurmat poetry of medieval period is prominently evident in the poetry of Dr Raina. He added that his poetry is concerned with the values, globalization and other such aspects of the society and suggest the readers to follow the traditions.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik while Dr Monojit extended vote of thanks.
Prominent among others attended the programme includes Dr Raj Kumar, Didar Singh, Ajit Singh Mastana, Swamy Antarnirav, Harbhajan Singh Upasak, Suraj Singh Suraj, Davinder Singh Deep and Amar Singh Kuka.
