Jammu, Mar 24: A literary programme was organized by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (Regd.), Jammu today where a Hindi Novel titled Shikaargah’- a Hindi translation of Punjabi award winning Novel with the same title and written by Surinder Neer, a Jammu based  well known Punjabi writer was released. Danish Rana, IGP, Jammu was the Chief Guest and Khalid Hussain, a well known writer of J&K presided over the function. Dr. Arvinder and Dr. Lalit Magotra were the Guests of Honour on this occasion. Sh. Devinder vSingh Vishavnagrik, President, Punjabi Lekhak sabha, Jammu welcomed the guests and gave a brief about the novel.
Papers were read out by Ravinder Koul, Aruna Sharma and Brij Nath Betab,  reflecting on the novel and various aspects in creating the work of fiction. The papers gave a detailed introduction about the technique, style and theme of the novel. In his paper Ravinder Koul discussed various issues about the concept of the novelAruna’s paper discussed various positions happening in the repationships described in the novel. Brij Nath Betab discusse in his paper , various aspects of technique, style and conent in general in the novel.
Speaking on this occasion IGP Rana, the chief guest said that though he could not read the novel being written in Gurmukhi, will now cherish its niceties in the translated version. He added that translation into Hindi wwill add to the value of the novel in its readership. He also appreciated the role of translators who contribute in spreading the information of one language to an other.
Prof. Lalit Magotra gave the same reason for not being able to read the nove but he appreciated the work as it was appreciated before him by the writers from outsisde the state. Dr. Arvinder Amn said that the pain recorded in the novel about vthe tyrrany of Kashmir situation has turned into universal in its appeal and application.
Those who attended the programme included  well known writers, poets, artists and intellectuals. Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Baljeet Raina.
