UDHAMPUR, Feb 25: A meeting of the District Udhampur unit of All J&K Plus 2 Lecturers’ Forum, was held at Udhampur under the chairmanship of Ashok Sharma, the District president.
The meet expressed  resentment over the orders issued by various CEOs  on the directions of Minister for Education that on the days of the Board exams of 10th and 12th, the schools  where the centres for the aforesaid exams have been constituted, shall remain closed for the students and the staff.
While appreciating the Government’s concern to check copying, the speakers said that anybody found guilty in abetting copying may be dealt with firmly but issuing such orders barring the whole staff of so many schools from attending their respective schools, amounts to questioning and doubting the integrity of the whole education fraternity. They  said that in order to check the menace of copying,  the Govt should  equip  the Exam Halls with CCTVs and constitute more inspection and vigilance  teams.
They also said with such  orders, the educational activities of class 11th will  come to a halt, especially where the centre for both 10th and 12th class have been constituted. It will also delay the  evaluation and declaration of the  result of T2 of classes 5th to 9th and delay the result.
The speakers said that if the Government does not trust its own staff, it is better to entrust the conduct of these exams to some independent agency. They said that many other factors are responsible for affecting the academic standard in schools. They said that a large no of teachers and masters have been attached in or around cities, many schools are facing shortage of staff and  various trainings are being conducted in January  and February, sports tournaments and science exhibition both under RMSA and INSPIRE were conducted in February this year which is bound to affect the performance of students.
The speakers  demanded that the trainings of teaching staff be invariably conducted during summer/winter breaks. They also asked the senior officers of the department to apprise the Education Minister about  the issues and problems at the ground level for review of the decision.
Among those,  who addressed the meeting,  included D P Sharma, Arunesh Kumar,  Anil Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Mohan Lal Sharma, Jeevan Lal, Verinder Kumar, Sudesh Kumar, Kasturi Lal, Parjesh Kumar, Brij Mohan, Kaka Ram, Joginder Kumar and others.
