NEW DELHI, Sept 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today exhorted the young IAS officers to keep in mind the expectations that people have from Government, and to do their best to fulfill these expectations, in whatever positions they serve in, during their career.
Modi was addressing the valedictory session of Assistant Secretaries comprising 2016 batch IAS officers , who made presentations before him, based on various projects undertaken by them.
Union MoS Incharge DoPT Dr Jitendra Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to PM Dr PK Misra, Cabinet Secretary PK Sinha and Union Secretary DoPT C. Chandermoily were present on the occasion. Secretaries from different departments and senior officers in the Union Govt also attended the session.
Eight selected presentations were made by the officers, on themes such as raising farm incomes, soil health cards, grievance redressal, citizen-centric services, power sector reform, tourist facilitation, e-auctions and smart urban development solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister noted that the three months’ Central mentorship programme as Assistant Secretaries offers the junior-most and the senior-most officers, an opportunity to interact with each other. He encouraged the young officers to imbibe the best from the experiences that they would have had, during their attachment to various Ministries as part of this programme. He also exhorted the young officers to keep in mind the expectations that people have from them.
Modi encouraged the officers to develop a connect with the people around them, and with the people they serve, in course of their duties. He said that developing a close rapport with people, is one of the keys to achieving success in their tasks and objectives.
Prime Minister also appreciated the presentations made by the young officers.
