PM asks HM to oversee situation in quake-hit North-East, speaks to CMs

NEW DELHI :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked Home Minister Rajnath Singh who is in Assam, to oversee the rescue and relief operations following the earthquake that hit the north-east region early this morning.
”Spoke to Rajnath ji, who is in Assam, on the situation arising due to the earthquake &  asked him to oversee the situation,” the Prime Minister said on social micro-blogging site Twitter.
The Prime Minister’s Office earlier instructed the National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) team to move from Guwahati to the areas which were affected by the 6.7 intensity earthquake that was epicentred in Tamenglong district of Manipur.
Mr Modi spoke to Chief Ministers of Manipur, Arunachal pradesh and Assam to take stock of the situation.
”PM is continuously monitoring the situation in the Northeast due to the earthquake,” the  PMO said in a tweet.
He spoke to Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki,” it added.
”Manipur CM Okram Ibobi Singh and I had a telephone conversation. We discussed the post-earthquake situation in Manipur & Northeast,” Mr Modi said in a tweet.
”Spoke to Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki on the situation arising in the wake of the earthquake.
”Had a telephone conversation with Assam CM Tarun Gogoi on the earthquake in the  state & the region,” he said in a series of tweets. (UNI)
