PM is engaged in ”double talk” through ‘Mann ki Baat’: Mayawati

LUCKNOW, Aug 28:
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ”double talk” saying that no one would be allowed to instigate riot in the name of religion or faith.
“PM yesterday during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ again repeated that no one would be allowed to take law in their hands on any faith or religion like he did on the Independence Day speech from the Red Fort. But what happened in Haryana clearly shows that the BJP was trying to give patronage to the Dera Sacha Sauda supporters who went berserk after their guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in the rape case,” said Ms Mayawati.
In an official statement here, the BSP President said, ”Mr Modi always go for double talk while on one hand he condemns the violence, on the other he gives free hand to the protesters.”
Giving an example, he said when the entire country was in grief on the death anniversary of the secular icon of the country Dr B R Ambedkar on December 6, 1992, the BJP and its partners had demolished the Ayodhya disputed structure showing that they do not care about him.
She said the violence in Haryana and other places after the conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Friday reminded of the Gujarat of 2002 when Mr Modi was the chief minister there.
Demanding that Mr Modi and his chief ministers be made more responsible, the BSP President said such an act by the Haryana government shows that they are helpless against the rowdy people.
Ms Mayawati had demanded sacking of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on moral grounds for being responsible for violence by the Dera supporters. (UNI)
