NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed grief over the death 10 army men who were buried alive after an avalanche hit their post located in northern Siachen glacier at an altitude of 19,500 feet.
The message of Mr Modi is the first confirmation from the highest level that the buried soldiers have died. ”Demise of soldiers in Siachen is very tragic. I salute the brave soldiers who gave their lives to the nation. Condolences to their families,” he tweeted.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar also condoled the death of soldiers. ”My heartfelt condolence to the brave soldiers who were martyred in the line of duty in the most difficult terrain of Siachen. It is our duty to take care of families,” he said in a tweet. (AGENCIES)
