NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed pain at the loss of lives of Amarnath Yatris due to a bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir.
“My thoughts are with the families of the deceased,” he said in a tweet.
“I pray that those injured in the bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir recover soon,” Mr Modi said.
According to initial reports, at least 16 people are feared killed in the mishap. Twenty seven people were injured, reports said.
The bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims fell into a gorge along the highway this afternoon.
The accident took place in Ramban along the highway. The bus, part of the official Amarnath Yatra convoy, had skidded off the road. (AGENCIES)
