NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid respect and saluted the workers on the occasion of Labour Day and said the working community played a big role in the country’s progress.
“Today, on Labour Day, we salute the determination & hardwork of countless workers who play a big role in India’s progress. Shrameva Jayate!,” he tweeted. International Workers’ Day also known as Labour Day celebrates the spirit of labourers. The Prime Minister also wished Gujarat and Maharashtra on their foundation day.
In a series of tweets, Mr Modi paid tributes to the venerable Adi Shankaracharya saying his “philosophy & teachings are invaluable forever”.
“India’s saints have a long lasting contribution to our society. We cherish their positive impact and influence,” he wrote.
In another missive, Mr Modi wrote: “Later today will join a programme to release a stamp on Sant Shri Ramanujacharya, whose rich thoughts continue to influence many”. (AGENCIES)
