Srinagar, Oct 20: J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Sunday said, it is Prime Minister Modi’s leadership that laid the foundation of big events in Kashmir. He was referring to Kashmir Marathon held today morning. It is the first international marathon held in the region.
Thanking the Prime Minister, Sinha emphasized how the government’s sustained efforts in restoring peace and stability to the region have paved the way for such events.
He said, “The way the Prime Minister has been working to bring peace to Jammu and Kashmir is one of the key reasons why a marathon of this magnitude can be held here today.”
The event featured both a full marathon and a half marathon, with participants from all over the country and abroad.
Sinha expressed his gratitude to CS Duloo, who conceived the idea of the Srinagar marathon three months ago. The Lieutenant Governor also thanked the various government departments for their role in organizing the event, praising the coordination and the vibrant atmosphere of the city.
“The lights of Srinagar shining today are a testament to the city’s growing spirit, and the praise for it is limitless,” Sinha said, adding that a marathon is not just about winning or losing but about participation and community spirit.
The event saw enthusiastic participation, with runners from 12 different countries joining to celebrate the spirit of unity. Sinha noted, “This marathon has become a signature event, symbolizing freedom, dedication, and the indomitable spirit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
