NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed constitution of a task force to study cadre structures of various central services like IFS and IRS in order to check stagnation level and other issues.
The task force, to be headed by T Jacob, Additional Secretary in Department of Personnel of Training (DoPT), has been asked to submit its report within three months time.
In accordance with the direction of the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC), a task force has been constituted on August 16, 2016 to comprehensively study the cadre structures of all organised services in Government of India and address issues in time bound manner, an order issued today by the DoPT said.
The ACC is headed by the Prime Minister.
The task force will suggest the way forward to mitigate the stagnation level and “to suggest the ideal recruitment of organised Group A services”, as per its terms of references.
All cadre controlling authorities like Ministry of External Affairs for Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Finance Ministry for Indian Revenue Service (IRS) among others have been asked to provide their inputs so that it can be examined by the task force before finalising its recommendations.
